Business Development Executive

Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is looking for a strategic and relationship-driven Business Development Executive. The Business Development Executive serves as the primary driver of new pipeline generation, engaging customers through industry events, direct outreach, and in-person meetings. This role owns the customer relationship and deal strategy through the early and middle stages of the sales process and partners closely with Sales Executives and internal teams to advance and close opportunities.

Innovative Refrigeration Systems, Inc. is a premier custom design build contractor for industrial refrigeration systems, providing design, fabrication, construction, commissioning, and service in-house.

Job Role: The Business Development Executive is responsible for identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities across target markets including cold storage, food and beverage, data centers, and other industrial sectors. This role is focused on proactive outbound prospecting, relationship development, and early-stage opportunity ownership for large, complex refrigeration design-build projects.

Key Duties:

  • Identify, target, and develop new business opportunities within strategic industries including cold storage, food and beverage, data centers, and manufacturing.
  • Conduct proactive outbound prospecting through industry events, conferences, customer visits, and direct outreach.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers, influencers, and stakeholders within target accounts.
  • Qualify opportunities by understanding customer needs, project drivers, budget considerations, and timelines.
  • Develop and execute account strategies to position the company for large, complex project opportunities.
  • Own early-stage deal development and maintain engagement throughout the sales process in partnership with Sales Executives.
  • Collaborate with Sales Executives to transition qualified opportunities into technical solution development and closing phases.
  • Work with Inside Sales to coordinate follow-up, account coverage, and development of smaller opportunities.
  • Represent the company at industry events, trade shows, and networking functions to build brand presence and generate leads.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date customer and opportunity information in CRM systems.
  • Stay informed on market trends, customer activities, and competitive landscape within industrial refrigeration and related industries.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a related technical field OR equivalent experience.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills with the ability to engage senior decision-makers.
  • Proven ability or strong aptitude for outbound prospecting and business development.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to travel regularly for customer meetings, site visits, and industry events.
  • Experience with CRM systems such as HubSpot or Salesforce.
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (seated or standing) for extended periods.
  • Occasionally may need to lift or carry items up to 25 pounds (e.g., office supplies, small equipment).

Preferences:

  • Experience in industrial, construction, or technical sales environments.
  • Familiarity with industrial refrigeration, mechanical systems, or related industries.
  • Experience developing new markets or expanding into new verticals.
